What is Digital Spirometry?
Digital spirometry is a method of measuring how well your lungs are working. It involves using a special device that records your breathing patterns and lung capacity. With this new technology, your healthcare team can monitor your lung function remotely, allowing for proactive management of your respiratory condition.
What will I need?
In order to use the NHS Connect Me Digital Spirometry Service, you will need access to:
- Bluetooth Spirometer
- Smartphone or tablet
- Spirobank App (available on iOS and Android)
- Stable internet connection
How to use the NHS Connect Me Digital Spirometry Service
- Download the Spirobank App from Apple app store or Google Play store
- Complete app registration and enter correct Device Serial Number (DSN)
- Take your reading

What does the service do?
- Asks you to take your blow readings on your spirometer device and log them accurately into the Spirobank app.
- Offers access to information to support you in learning about and managing your condition.
- Provides guidance and tips in the My Information section of the app
- Offers the ability for you to seek further support from your clinician if your condition does not improve at the end of the service.
Helpful Tips: To ensure optimal blow readings:
- Avoid taking reliever medications for at least 2 – 4 hours, long-acting relievers for 12 hours.
- Please undertake your readings when you are feeling relaxed.
- Please avoid smoking, alcohol, heavy meals, exercise or tight clothing during the blows.

- However, if you do not find the service helpful, you can opt out at any time, by requesting to opt out from your contact clinician.
Please note that the spirometer device is to be returned when no longer in use.
